CURRENT WEATHER RESTARTED AFTER THE SUMMER BREAK

Summer's drawing to a close,
but please do not despair,
there's news to keep you on your toes,
excitement in the air...

there is a reason to take heart,
No longer must you wait,
for current weather will restart,
at 2, please don't be late!

Current weather is an informal get-together every Friday afternoon at 2.30pm in the common area on the second floor of the former SISSA building and lasts for approximately 30 minutes.

We take a look at the forecast of the previous Friday and examine any notable local weather during the week and recent seasonal anomalies. Next we take a look at weather and climate in current affairs, identifying any weather/climate related events in the news, monitoring global climate events (droughts, ENSO etc) and sometimes entering a topic in a little more detail. Finally we present the Friday forecast for the following week.

The event is very informal, please shout out opinions! If you want to be added to the mailing list for the current weather reminders or volunteer to join the presenter team, then please send me an email.

I am now happy to say that the coordination of CW rotates each academic year. In 2024, CW is being coordinated by Leidinice (thank you!). We have a whatsapp group too for CW, please contact Fred Kucharski if you would like to be added

    Climate Unboxed

My new hobby in my free time is to upload videos on various topics related to weather and climate on my new YouTube channel climate unboxed. At the moment there are only my initial videos on climate data processing that I am developing for a new joint EDX course with the UNESCO regional office in Zimbabwe, but I hope to supplement these with more general interest material over the coming year. Don't forget to subscribe for news on new uploads.
