Sea spray picked up by a particularly strong Trieste bora. With
strong events such as these, the sea spray can get high enough in the
boundary layer to get picked up by the local precipitation radar which
erroneously reports rain over the Bay of Trieste!

This is an example (I think!) of Undulatus asperatus. There was strong
convection nearby over the Adriatic.

A beautiful example of distrail clouds captured over Reading in the
southern UK. Distrails (the opposite of the more common contrails)
form when the aircraft turbulent wake causes dry air to mix in to a
saturated layer (often altocumulus) causes the dissipation of the
cloud. Reading is a good place to spot both contrails and distrails
due to its location under a busy flight corridor.

Not a great quality photo unfortunately, there was a strong high
pressure over Europe and the resulting inversion gave rise to a thick
strocumulus deck over the plains of northern Italy. This is taken
crossing the Alps flying south towards Venice. The visibility on the
north side of the Alps was very good. Often in winter the Alps and
Appenine trap pollution over the Adriatic basin and lead to worse
visibility and more hazy conditions to south of the Alps when a
blocking high persists for many days.

Conjestus nearby Singapore on our approach. Note the enhanced
detrainment from some clouds at what is presumably the melting
level.

Embedded in this field of cloud streets over India there was one line
of cumulus that was much deeper aligned with the river (Ganges? I
wasn't exactly sure where I was) below. This is likely an effect of
the enhanced humdity from the water body combined with the land-sea
contrast in temperatures at the river boundary enhancing convergence.
Work over Africa has shown how convergence at boundaries between wet
and dry soils often leads to further convection in these zones.
