Young Scientist Award

The Organizing Committee is pleased to announce the Award "Turbulent Mixing and Beyond for Youth," TMB4U, issued to a young researcher for recognition of his/her scientific contribution to the field of Turbulent Mixing and Beyond.

At TMB-2009, the awards TMB4U have been issued to

    Andrea Scagliarini
    graduate student at University of Rome "Tor Vergata," Italy
    in recognition of his excellent contribution to one of the themes of
    Second International Conference and Advanced School "Turbulent Mixing and Beyond"
    in particular, to Eulerian and Lagrangian statistics in weakly compressible turbulence

and to

    Cesar Huete Ruiz de Lira
    graduate student at University of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain
    in recognition of his excellent contribution to one of the themes of
    Second International Conference and Advanced School "Turbulent Mixing and Beyond"
    in particular, to turbulence gemeration by a shock wave and
    interactions of shock waves with density inhomogeneities.

At TMB-2009, the abstracts of 30 nominees for TMB4U award have been evaluated by 9
members of the Scientific Advisory Committee, and 10 nominees have been pre-selected based on the cumulative ranking. The final recommendation has been made upon the consideration of all the presentations at the Conference and School.

For more details on the award process, the nominees are welcome to contact the Organizing Committee via tmb@flash.uchicago.edu and tmb@ictp.it.

The
nominee for TMB4U Award should be a graduate student or a researcher at early stages of his/her carrier and make a principal contribution to the work presented.

The selection is made by the members of Scientific Advisory Committee based on
    - scientific merit and novelty of the results
    - quality criteria, including
        rigor and connection to observations for theoretical and mathematical works;
        reliability and repeatability of experimental results for experimental works;
        verification and validation of numerical models for numerical works;
        applicability in a broad range of TMB-related problems for works in
statistics,
        computer science, and cyber technology.

TMB4U consist of a financial part and a certificate citing the contribution made by the recipient.

TMB4U has no restrictions on a candidate citizenship, country of residence, and gender.
