An informal workshop on low- and intermediate-complexity climate models will take place at ICTP on Monday 25 september 2000, as a prelude to the Conference on "Non-linear phenomena in global climate dynamics".

The purpose of the workshop is to understand what issues of climate variability can be successfully addressed by simplified climate/general circulation models. Comparisons of model statistics with analyses and state-of-the-art GCMs will be appreciated.

  The workshop is planned to start at 10 a.m.. Presentations should be 30-40 min. long (depending on the final list of speakers). It is suggested to bring some additional material for documentation/discussion, and a list of references.

  The workshop is open to all Conference participants. Participants who wish to make a presentation at the workshop should send a title and brief abstract by e-mail to F. Molteni (moltenif@ictp.trieste.it). Please note that, since the time available is limited, only a limited number of presentations may be accepted.
