I am presently working in Personnel. I look after the ICTP Personnel records
and I am also looking after the operations of ICTP payroll.
I was born and bred in Trieste on 18 May 1954 where I attended the local Liceo Classico "F. Petrarca" in the mid 70's, where I got my Maturità Classica. I went to UK shortly after graduation and worked as a labourer/house father/sales manager etc. in and around Farnborough, Hants, and later on in Gloucestershire. In 1982 I came back home where I got married (in 1984) and started working as a Receptionist at one of ICTP Guesthouses. I found working at ICTP very interesting and gradually was moved into the ICTP Finance Section, looking after the financial aspects of the special programme of the Office of External Activities (OEA). While working as a Finance Clerk, I was involved with the voluntary work as ICTP Staff Representative and carried out this duty till 1993 when I resigned but I am still active within the working groups of the Staff Association. Another voluntary work I took up since my early days as "Union Man" was to help finding suitable beneficiaries for our "Fund for Hunger". This special fund has been created in 1984 by the late Professor Abdus Salam (founder of ICTP) in order to always have the availability of sending funds to trusted organizations in developing countries whenever an emergency arises. In July 1995 I moved into Personnel.
I love music (Joni
Mitchell) - of course!-, Joan Baez,
Mina, Pat Metheny etc.), food (all sorts), sports (volley-ball, swimming
but mainly long-distance running) I am always ready to join you in your
daily jogging sessions! Just E-Mail:lucatell@ictp.trieste.it.
I plan to make extensive use of the HTML capabilities for practical use, retrieving of data and information, forms, automatic solution of queries, etc. So if you have good experience on these subjects and wish to help me please get in touch and I would be very grateful! So far only one nice colleague of mine (Ciao Stanka!) gave me a feedback or advice on these pages but I don't despair!
