The aim of the activity is to provide pedagogical treatment of these subjects in the form of a series of lectures by individual speakers. The activity is intended for theoretical physicists or mathematicians with knowledge of quantum field theory, general relativity and string theories.

The activity is open to research scientists and students from all countries that are members of the United Nations, UNESCO or IAEA. The main purpose of the Centre is to help research workers from developing countries through a programme of training activities within a framework of international cooperation. However, students and post-doctoral scientists from developed countries are also welcome to attend. As the lectures will be conducted in English, participants should have an adequate working knowledge of this language.

There is no registration fee. A limited number of grants to support living and travel expenses of participants from developing countries are available.
