Short description
This workshop will address current issues in the design of nature reserves, including both terrestrial and marine systems. It is the first international assembly of those who have been in the forefront of the development of mathematical methods for integrating economic considerations (benefits and costs, policy instruments) and ecological processes into conservation goals. The structure of the meeting will be entirely based on invited lectures, open discussion, and working sessions; there will be no contributed paper session. Talks will highlight the accomplishments in the field to date, the availability of mathematical tools, and open challenges (such as the development of dynamical approaches).
