(**) Biodata: Dr. Chuan Yong Li is a professor in biophysics, Nankai Univeristy, P. R. China. She is currently the Vice-Dean in the School of Physics in that university. Dr. Li earned her degrees of B.S. in physics in 1984 and M.S. in physics in 1987, both in Nankai University, P. R. China. She received her Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering at University of Tasmania, Australia, in 1998.

She worked as a lecturer in Tianjin Medical University from 1987-1992. She has been with the Physics Department, Nankai University, as a faculty member since 1997. Her teaching includes lecturing general physics to undergraduate students, supervising postgraduate students. Her research interests include: biophysics of cardiac electrophysiology and biomedical signal acquisition and processing.

Dr. Li has also been doing some research on physics teaching. She is now an executive committee member and is also in the International Organising Committee of the International Young Physicists’ Tournament (IYPT). As a chair of the Local Organizing Committee, she was a very successful host of the 22nd IYPT meeting in July, 2009, at Nankai University.

Dr. Li is the author of numerous research papers published in peer-reviewed journals in the field of her expertise.
