(*) Professor V.A. Gribkov is a Full Professor at the A. I. Alikhanov Institute for Theoretical and Experimental Physics, Moscow. He received his diploma at the Moscow Physical-Technical Institute in 1967, and a doctorate at the P.N. Lebedev Phys. Institute in 1990. He has received the USSR award for Laser Diagnostics in 1986 and the Polish Ministry of Science and Education First Prize for Plasma Focus research in 1987.

He is the President of the Moscow Physical Society. At present is a head of the Laboratory for Interaction of Extreme Energy Flows with Matter, and at the Institute of Plasma Physics and Laser Microfusion, Warsaw, Poland, is a head of the Office for New Technologies. He has successfully supervised 10 candidate theses and 15 diplomas. He is a fellow of the Institute of Physics, UK. His research interests have been concentrated in dense plasma physics, plasma diagnostics, powerful-pulsed lasers, penetrating radiation facilities and its applications to material sciences and biology, X-ray lasers, and nuclear energy systems. He has published 6 monographs, one textbook, several patents, and about 300 papers and conference reports in Russian and international scientific journals and conference proceedings.

Currently he is a member of the International Scientific Committee of the Center for Dense Magnetized Plasmas, under umbrella of UNESCO, and Staff Associate at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Trieste, Italy.
