The Airport of Trieste

The airport of Trieste is called Ronchi dei Leggionari and is at about 30 minutes by car from the Adriatico Guest House (Grignano), the site of the conference. A taxi ride would cost about Lt. 90,000 (approx. US$ 40). Besides the Alitalia shuttle service (cost Lit. 15,000, about US$ 7), a regular SAITA bus (cost Lit. 6,000 about US$ 3) runs between Trieste Station and the airport.

If a bus service is preferred, one option is to request the driver to stop at the bus stop of Grignano. If you are staying at the Adriatico Guest House, please walk forward from the bus stop some 20 meters until you find a narrow road (Via Carlo Junker, cf. "Map") on your right (near the sign "Disco & Bar"). This will lead to steps that go down to the sea side. This part of the walk takes some 3-5 minutes. At the bottom of the steps turn right again and there is a clear sign pointing towards the entrance of the Adriatico Guest House, which is the tall building near you, opposite the sea.

If you are staying at the Riviera Hotel please ask the driver to leave you at the hotel entrance.

If you ara staying at the Galileo Guest House GGH, get off at the Grignano bus stop; then cross at the pedestrian crossing by the bus stop and walk past the two tunnels until you reach the Main Building of the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics. The GGH is behind the Main Building (cf. "Map"); there is a convenient paved road, which you should follow.
