e-Collaboration - Ways II
... Lot of Ways!
|
Caution: Test things early to see if you have the in house
ability and resources so a useful service results
For example, Check, think of ...
- Authentication and access to files (firewalls?)
- DNS - Domain Name System (dedicated servers?)
- Email: This is a non-trivial contribution and remains the most
useful of collaboration tools.
- SMTP config, POP vs. IMAP, e-mail reader selection
- Listservers: (Moderated?, low-noise)
- WWW servers: Generic information distribution
How do authors of information will get to the server
(NFS, Samba, Netatalk -package for Unix machine to supply Appletalk
print and file services on a LAN, ...)
- Security of the server (cgi's?)
- issues of proxy and load balancing, etc
- Database services (both WWW gateway or x-graphics)
- Audio/Video servers ( is this needed?, QoS? )
- Support (human and computer based)
... Still many problems!
