Digital Divide in the World - Contd.
In both archives, only 1 e-print has resulted from a collaboration between South
institutions alone (India/Brazil collaboration in cond-mat and
Argentina/Brazil/Singapore for he-th.
In other words, only 1.14% of considered cond-mat e-prints and 2% of
he-th were the fruit of purely 'South' collaborative efforts !!!!
These figures follow closely the trends that have been observed for
scholarly publishing in refereed journals (~2% of the total scientific production
from less-Developed Countries)

Our goal here has merely been to stimulate some bold experiments to obtain
more meaningful data that could be used to understand better the Digital
Divide in Less Developed Countries.
