Following the great success of the first painting competition called "Science and Nature at Miramare" held at the Centre in 1996/1997, the organizing committee, received several requests by local and international artists to host exhibitions of their works of art. With the support of the Director, Prof. Miguel A. Virasoro and with the advise of some consultants, some of which composed the first panel of judges for the painting competition, the Centre opened its Art Gallery at the Adriatico Guesthouse at the end of 1997, with a ceremony which hosted Authorities and artists.
- The first exhibition was held in conjunction with the opening of the Art Gallery on 9 December 1998 and it was called "Variazioni sugli astri .... ed altre cose" by the local painter Carmelo Vranich.
- The Art Gallery then hosted in April 1998 the first presentation of a travelling paintings exhibition of local leading artists, called "Trieste Arte & Parkinson", ideated to promote the research on the Parkinson disease.
- In July 1998, a group of national artists proposed an exhibition of their paintings called "Light".
- On its first anniversary, the Art Galley had the honour to host a very prestigious collection of graphic works, called "Le carte accarezzate-Caressed engravings" of some leading Italian artists of the avant-garde movement of this century.
- On 26 November 1999, the Art Gallery held
a conference on science and art in memory of the Trieste physicist
and artist Lucio Saffaro, with critical interventions both by
art critics and scientists and the exhibition of some of his famous
works.

- During October 2002 in connection with the UN Day 2002 celebrations, a very well known photographer , made several photographs at the Centre of scientists at work, which were exhibited at the Adriatico Guesthouse during the celebrations and called "A Day of a Scientist"
.- 11-20 December 2002 - Painting exhibition "Women & Peace" at the Adriatico Guesthouse: 10 women artists from different countries (Hetty Van der Linde -Netherlands, Gloria Zoitl-Autria, Raffaella Busdon-Italia, Qing Yue-China, Natasa Ljubojev-Jugoslavia, Jasna Merku'-Italia, Maya Ott-Germania, Ornella Ricca-Italia, Chiara Vecchi Gori-Italia, Renate Christin-Germania) have exhibited their views on peace.

The members of the Cultural Committee that organizes the activities of the Centre's Art Gallery are presently:
