About RegCNET
The RegCNET was established in
June 2003 during the First
ICTP Workshop on the Theory and Use of Regional Climate Models. The
workshop was part of the ICTP educational program and was attended by
more than 70 participants from nearly 30 countries, mostly
economically developing nations (EDNs). The primary research
topics of the RegCNET are in the areas of regional climate change,
prediction, and variability, as well as their associated societal and
ecological impacts. Currently, the ICTP
Regional Climate Model (RegCM3) is the central research tool of the
network, although researchers employ other models and methods. RegCM3
is
used
by scientists in Africa, Asia, Europe, North
America, and South America.

The ICTP RegCNET provides an
unparalleled opportunity for
scientists in EDNs to participate in and lead high-level climate
research. It actively strives to increase the research involvement of
EDN scientists by allowing them to connect to the global scientific
community from their home country. Built on the enthusiasm, commitment,
and collaborative spirit of its members, in a short time the RegCNET
has become an important vehicle for fostering climate research in
EDNs.
